Memories Are Made of This by Deana Martin
As many of you know, or are about to know, I love Dean Martin. Absolutely such a huge fan of his. Not only do I love his music and voice, but ultimately his charm and presence that captivated the world.
A little while ago, I read this memoir written by Dean’s daughter, Deana. I had sung a tribute to him two years ago and posted on June 7th, his birthday. I sent the video to Deana, and I later saw that she had left me a voicemail about how much she loved it. I was blown away and my head was up in the clouds.
When I had found this book at a hole in the wall book shop for $3 I knew I had to read it as I felt like I had this legitimate connection now. I understand this may seemed biased since I am such a huge fan, but honestly this book is incredibly well written. Being able to see one of the greatest entertainers of all time through none other then his daughters eyes was incredible. There was love, loss, heartbreak and unbelievable celebrity stories. Just imagine what it would be like if Marilyn Monroe was your babysitter, if you let Elvis Presley, or if you almost had a fling with Robert Mitchum. I’m telling you, this memoir is filled with amazing stories you won’t want to miss.
It’s Music Monday!
Hallelujah, this is one of my favorite days. Today’s song choice is I Wanna Know by Alesso. I kept hearing this song at the store I work at and wanted to know who it was. It took a couple days, but eventually I found it and thank god I did. It’s not just the catchy beat and lyrics that keep this song on repeat, but it’s also Alesso’s soothing voice. Alesso has this incredibly sultry voice that is so refreshing in today’s music.
I hope you guys like it as I much as I do, I’m pretty obsessed. You can listen to the song here.
Until next time,
Hooray for our creative day!
I’ve been making so many bracelets for Memorial Day weekend, it’s been awesome! Air Force, Marines, Army, you name it. I wanted to make bracelets that are beautiful little masterpieces that show support for any special soldier in your life.
Like I said in an earlier blog post, I’m in the progress of moving so I was having a garage sale to make some extra cash for the move. I had my bracelets on display, in hopes of selling some. A family saw them and were so impressed! They placed an order for their entire family to have matching bracelets, including one for their one year old daughter! I have been toying with the idea of selling my bracelets in person, and I think I might have to start because I love interacting with my customers so they can see the face behind the bracelet.
I’m also really excited for my etsy shop because I’m moving to a bigger city, I think there’s going to be much better opportunity.
Can’t wait to share more news about my move with you all!
I was thinking really hard about what I wanted today’s chat to be about and I think I’ve come up with a good topic: opportunity.
My life has been changing in so many ways in the course of 3 weeks. It’s been a hell of a ride, with some very low downs, but very right ups. And now, I’m happy to say that I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to move to one of my favorite cities. I can’t begin to say how excited am to see what the future holds for me, a whole new chapter, a whole new life is about to begin. I’m going to meet new friends, suitors, coworkers, and I can’t wait.
My main point is this: if you live a life where you are presented with chances that don’t scare you enough then you’re not living right. This move is terrifying to me because it’s new, but I’m thinking of all the good things that lie ahead of me and you should too! What have you been lingering for? What’s something you have always wanted to try? Do it! Nothing is holding you back. You are young, and beautiful and confident and strong. Go live a life full of adventures so you won’t find yourself looking back thinking of all these things that you didn’t do.
Long story short, change is scary. But I guarantee you, a majority of the time it’s the better option. You are responsible for your own happiness, so make it happen.
Until next time,
Aquariums/Museums/Ehibits are some of my favorite things in the world. I could probably spend hours in these places just taking in all the beauty.
My most recent trip to Seattle, I had gone to the Chihuly Glass Garden, as it was recommended to me by a coworker. Although the tickets were slightly overpriced, (70$ for 3 people), it was breathtaking. Some displays were so abstract, while others made you feel like you were walking around Willy Wonka’s factory. There were only a handful of rooms that had displays, then a brief outside portion. There was no wait time and we were able to by tickets instantly. Obviously you can take pictures, just no flash photography.
If you can’t visit, take a virtual tour here.
Until next time,
This Wednesday post is coming a little late, and I apologize. I’m in the middle of moving so I’ve been pretty busy. Nonetheless, this Ranting & Raving post is about my top five favorite instagram accounts that I follow, each of them offers something a little different so let’s get started.
In their bio, they describe their account as a blog about beautiful things, and goodness are they right. Their instagram is filled with lovely, feminine photos of flowers, fashion and food. It’s obviously number on because it’s my favorite account that I am following. It’s so dreamy, I would check definitely check it out!
This account is a great one to follow because of all their motivating and inspirational messages. Shortly after I wake up, I check my social media (probably a bad habit) but I’m so glad I get to see such motivating messages first thing in the morning, it gets me ready to kick ass.
I’m a huge coffee addict. Well, maybe not an actual coffee addict, but I am obsessed with pictures of coffee. Coffee and books is an even better combination. This instagram page is cozy and great for anyone who is a lover of coffee and books, which I’m sure most of you are because how can you not be.
I know, I know. This one may seem cheesy but hey, we all get out kicks from something. Can it get any better then New York men reading books on the subway? Probably not. Each man is a mystery, and I often wonder what story they’re absorbed in.
What girl doesn’t love flowers? These pictures are something to dream about. They’re lovely and feminine, it almost makes me feel like I can actually smell the flowers on my screen. Obviously just an illusion, but they’re just that good.
I know I have mentioned this book before but I wanted to do a full Tuesday Book dedication to this work of art. I had never read any “self help” books before, but thanks to raving reviews on Lauren Conrad’s blog, I decided to give it a shot. Since then, self help books are my new favorite thing! I was weary at first, I’ll admit, with a label such as “self help.” God forbid anyone think I needed help finding myself. No, no that wasn’t the case. My curiosity was peaked. I feel like these are kind of a play on the term self help, as these books aren’t legitimately trying to tell you how to better yourself, it’s lighter, happier, funnier.
It’s inarguably easy to say that Adrey Hepburn was the classiest woman who ever lived (sorry Jackie O, I’m a Hepburn girl). Reading about her private life and her quirky little routines that left the world in awe of her were so inspiring. No other novel would make you want to act more like a lady. She had class and demanded respect, and man did she get it. Even if you weren’t all that interested in Audrey Hepburn (crazy, I know) this book is so wonderfully well written that it would be a shame to pass up.
You can order a copy here.
Until next time,
Oh. My. God.
Do I Wanna Know is one of my all time favorite songs by this phenomenal band, the Arctic Monkeys. I can’t remember where I heard it, but I’m so glad I did. It has a fun beat with a hint of sensuality that will give you the confidence you need to kick ass this week.
Hopefully this tune will make your Monday a little brighter. You can listen to it here.
Woo Etsy Sunday!
I’ve been working like crazy on these little bracelets (obviously) a majorit of them are summer themed but I’m really wanting to advertise Memorial Day. Yes, there’s a patriotic red white and blue bracelet but I’m focusing on bracelets more like the first one pictured. I want to make bracelets that best show your love and support for our soldiers, marines, etc.
Anything is customizable, so all you have to do is ask! You can check out these bracelets and much more by clicking here. All bracelets starting at &9.99.
First things first, before we get into this post, here’s somethings you should know about me:
I’m a very passionate person. I love to sing, it gives me an indescribable feeling that I can’t feel with anything else.
Almost 2 years ago, I got a scholarship to attend a music theater camp in Yosemite for the summer. It was my first time in Yosemite, and I was completely mesmerized by all of its beauty. I’m typically pretty shy when it comes to performing in front of people, so this camp really brought me out of my shell. One of the choreographers we had was a five time Emmy award winner. Yes, she was tough, and even made me cry. But in the end, I thanked her. In my mind, this was my version of the military. She completely broke me down then built me back up to be this unbelievably confident person I didn’t know I could be.
I’ve been reminiscing about performing a lot lately, watching my videos on YouTube and such. I miss that feeling, that nervous, exciting, thrilling feeling. I want to feel that feeling again. I’m thinking of posting covers as much as I can to get back into the swing of things. I’m pretty excited about it, because I feel like I’ve lost touch with this side of my self and I can’t wait to get it back.
